The Resonant Breath
The Resonant Breath is the essential practice within Resonant Mindfulness. Begin with the breath you already have.
Try one round
- Choose the start of the in-breath or the out-breath. Keep that choice for the round.
- At the beginning of that comfortable breath, touch your thumb gently to your index finger. Feel the contact, notice the breath and include as much of your body as is available.
- At the next breath, touch your thumb to your middle finger. Then the ring finger, then the little finger, one finger per breath.
- That is one round, and one round is a complete practice. You can finish there or begin again.
Leave the breath unchanged. There is no breathing rate to reach, no breath holding and no need to deepen your breath or lengthen your exhale. Breath, body, touch and attention meet together; the four words are not a sequence of steps.
Return in an ordinary moment
You might try a round while the kettle boils or before opening your laptop. You do not have to produce a particular feeling. Notice what is here, and decide what you need next.
